I can honestly say that this has been the best course that I have been on in 13 years. Thanks.

Paul Rogers, Church of England School, Stockton-on Tees

The best thing about this course was ... coming away with loads of ideas for immediate use and feeling excited about getting back to work to do it!

Moor End Technology College, Huddersifeld

A great multisensory approach that I know the children will love and that will motivate their learning - what works for them works for me! Wonderful auditory and kinaesthetic activities to help me move away from the 'stillness' in our lessons

Inspirational leader, wealth of ideas

Chris Tomlinson

Chris Tomlinson is Headteacher at Chafford Hundred Campus. In sixteen years of teaching he has worked in five different schools and LEAs.

Chris is now in his fourth year of headship at Chafford Hundred.  The Campus received a good rating with some outstanding features from Ofsted in May 2008.  In the same year, it was the runner up for the most improved secondary school in the country in the education Business Awards.  Due to an excellent CVA score the Campus has achieved High Performing Specialist School Status. The 5 A to Cs including Maths and English have risen from 16% to 60% in two years. This year the Campus has been shortlisted for secondary school of the year in the TES awards. Chris has recently been asked to join the fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts due to the excellent partnership between the Campus and this forward thinking organisation.

Chris was brought up in Aldershot and completed a degree in Accountancy and Statistics. After a year playing professional football he qualified as a secondary Maths teacher. His first school was in Surrey where after two years he was promoted to a school in Bristol as second in the Maths faculty. At 26 he was appointed as Head of Maths at Treviglas, a school in Newquay.

He then led a team in transforming the Maths faculty. The results rose from 49% A-Cs to 57%, 66%, 63% and finally 69%. The A-level numbers rose from 6 students to 50 students at the peak, as Maths became the most popular subject at A level, consistently producing the best ever results for Maths in the school. In the last two years the Maths faculty was the leading core subject in all sets of results.

The faculty was awarded with National commendations for the extra-curricular activities and was visited by many people including HMI inspectors to provide evidence for its annual good practice report. The school then promoted Chris to the role as Learning Co-ordinator to develop accelerated learning strategies for the community college which played a major part in the school's development.

Chris was then promoted to an Assistant Principal at Teignmouth Community College responsible for Upper School, Social Inclusion, Work-related curriculum, Specialist School status and of course learning to learn initiatives.

Chris is now Headteacher at Chafford Hundred Campus, a school named by the media as a school of the future. The campus is full of innovation and creativity; it is a real community centre and has the most modern education technology.

Chris has completed a great deal of research in schools and has had numerous articles published on brain-based learning, as well as having appeared on BBC Newsround, Radio 4 and BBC Essex. In addition to his responsibilities at Chafford Hundred Campus, Chris manages to find time to deliver INSET training on accelerated learning in Maths. He is also currently writing a book to support his training.

Chris brings a wealth of personal experience and success to his training, as well as a refreshing, lively personality that really brings the subject alive.
